Hans, Appropriate greeting for this year. However, I would urge all those who have Hans' old mailed cards to save them. I'm sure that they will become valuable collectors' items, but, of course, who would want to part with them!
Best Wishes to All

Congratulations on your 'New Arrival', Hans. What an achievement!
"All this and not ordinary, not unordered in not resembling. The difference is spreading." [from Gertie's Tender Buttons]
“When we read a story, we inhabit it. The covers of the book are like a roof and four walls. What is to happen next will take place within the four walls of the story. And this is possible because the story's voice makes everything its own.” [John Berger]
Can't wait to get a copy from the Sydney shop.

Good luck, Hans. It's relatively easy to set up an Amazon page to sell your book. My husband is a writer and sells one of his books (because we bought the entire inventory when the publisher went out of business) on Amazon. Amazon takes a small cut and sends a check periodically. Facebook is also a great way to let people know about the book.

Love the Basket portrait -- I'd not seen that before. I am on my second standard poodle -- incomparable dogs and the only breed possible for Gertrude Stein.

Gertrude Stein is still too avant-garde for some and many Americans -- this scandal sheds a handy light on it just from a different angle!
In all the photographs I studied and collected for my photobiography "Gertrude Stein in Words and Pictures", I only found a single photo where the two of them touch! Have we advanced in almost 100 years since then?
This photo, by the way, by the great gay photographer Cecil Beaton is displayed in all its beauty not just in my book but also in the museum show. Go have a look -- and make sure to hold hands while you look at it!

Stopped by the CJM today with a friend and the place was packed and people were spending lots of time walking through the show. I'm not sure whether the publicity from this incident has prompted interest in this show or not, but all I can say is that I really do applaud Connie Wolf and her staff on how they have handled this.

Hans, thanks for offering your outraged perspective on this occurrence, as well as your generous conclusion. I agree that the guard needed to be receive further training, not to be fired. I can't say about CJM generally or this case specifically, but I know many museums and other public cultural institutions save money by hiring poorly-paid immigrants from conservative cultures, or just poorly-paid people from conservative parts of the US. A case in point: try entering Oakland's world-class Paramount Theatre for any event and the "security" guards will treat you like a convicted terrorist before you can enter. I hope this news story brings about awareness all around: the rights of everyone to engage in (modest, please?) PDAs, and the responsibility of the organizations to introduce guard-staff to any cultural specifics of their customer population. Thanks again for speaking up so authoritatively.
